The post-hurricane situation for data centers in New York City looked pretty dire Tuesday. Power outages, flooding, and damage to fuel tanks had websites going offline and server hosting companies warning customers to shut down servers.

But with generators, fuel deliveries, and a lot of patience, several hosting companies have remained online, suffering through only short outages at worst. With Con Edison reporting that all power in Manhattan will be back sometime today, they might just be nearing the finish line.

Not everyone is reporting success. Datagram, whose outage temporarily forced websites like the Huffington Post, Gawker, and BuzzFeed offline, said on its website this morning that “We are still waiting for work to be completed and [a] generator to arrive.”
